DHH site schools typically have a larger number of like peers. The IEP team for students who require intensive support from a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, or whose academic and communication needs are met through a sign language interpreter, may determine that the least restrictive setting for a student is at one of the district site schools for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. The program uses a multidisciplinary team approach with services being provided by classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, social workers, and other personnel as deemed necessary. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Instructional Program is housed in age appropriate public schools for students ranging in age from 3 to 21 years. Related services are provided with an integrated approach in an effort to support the self-advocacy, language/linguistic, social/emotional, vocational and technological needs of this unique population. We believe any communication approach to be used should be based on student need, however visual, auditory, and verbal modes of communication are accessible. ![]() Each student is considered an individual with unique abilities and needs.
